If you think u have it in you, then please continue....

Welcome to the world of Snooker...

Hello Friends,
Let me take you through the basics of snookers.
Before we get on to, how to play? Let us Learn some Basics of Snooker.

(A)The Cue Stick: Select a cue stick which suites your height and also don't forget to check the weight of the stick. To start with go for a two piece cue stick.

(B) STANCE: The next step is to get the correct stance for the Game, the video below would show you the stance for different shorts played in the game.

(C) CUING:Once you get your stance in place , the most important aspect of the game has to be learned which is called cuing. Friends this is very important as the your game would depend completely on this.

HOW DO I PRACTICE CUING?

The best and the most easiest way to practice cuing is to place the cue ball (white ball) on the line of the D on the table and start targeting the other end of that line. While doing this, make sure that the cue ball comes back at the same point from where you had hit it.
Before you start a game make sure that you practice this for at least
10 minutes.

(D) Aiming The Ball: The basic concept of this game is to pot the ball or play it safely. To do that aiming becomes a very important part of the game. Folks this would come with practice, the more you play the better is your aim. (Please don't forget to watch the game). If you wear spectacles because of weak eye sight then the spectacle shown in the picture below is recommended.

The concept of aiming an object ball is virtually divided into 4 parts,
Right half of the ball, the left half of the ball, right quarter of the ball and the left quarter of the ball.

Start playing the game, with your cue connecting the center of the cue ball, adjust your body position and stance in such a way that cue ball hits the part, aimed, of the object ball.

Practice these Mantras religiously and then you can start up with all the spin shorts and trick shorts... Soon you might
come and play a frame or two with me to practice further.

For Vishal,

To concentrate on the aim, obviously, you'll need to focus, which comes with practice. The other thing you can do is divide the ball in as many parts as you like. Usually, the players divide the ball in four parts, left quarter, left half, right quarter and right half. Before, you take your stance you identify the part of the ball you'd like to aim and if your identification and cuing is correct, there shouldn't be any problem. With stance, ensure that your bridge is firm, your queue is touching or as close as possible to your chin and the middle part of the queue is in contact with your ribs.
